Daytime Dance

Daytime Dance is a free of charge event that happens most weeks, usually on Sunday, work schedule and weather permitting. It is in the back yard of Satori Sound Garden, and time varies
by season, availability, and request.

Usual running time is 90 minutes.
(South Sugarhood, North American franchise)

Daytime Dance is not a competition or exhibition, but is a participation event. Any amount ofmotion, passion, and even time is welcome. (The inside joke is, two song minimum.)

The conception of Daytime Dance was a way to get together and move, outside with social distancing during the pandemic, and it lives on as a way to gather community, move to the same rhythms, explore mind body connections, share space, bring one week to an end, and move in anticipation of the new week.

Dance is a wonderful way to process emotions non verbally, to regulate behavior, and to reduce stress. The repetitive and rhythmic nature of dance can also induce a meditative state, promoting relaxation and mental clarity. It is also a good way to work on mobility, flexibility, and balance.

Placing Daytime Dance on Sunday helps with mentally wrapping up the previous week, while also stimulating the mind body connection with motion, to help catapult into the new week.

Daytime Dance has been used as a form of rehab, to move in a restricted, or measured way, with no expectations.

Some people have biked over
and used Daytime Dance as a warmup for their Sunday bike ride.

Cleansing and Welcoming.

We request no talking on the “dance floor” (lawn), greetings excepted, and are a safe space.

No hate speech allowed.

Socializing afterwords.

The playlist is vaguely described as “Daytime Disco”, after the self description of the band Poolside. The music is peppy, but not anthemic, or speedy, rarely going above 117 BPM, vocal driven, covering many genres, but mostly focused on pop funk.

The sound system is world
class, with BMS speaker components, Pacal/Ice amps, and proprietary digital controllers.

Volume is at hearing safe levels, and neighbor friendly. <85dB.
